PART III Long-Term Funding
Avenues
From the start of this undertaking
with the COEWHP, avenues for on-going funding must be explored.
Options include:
-
sale of resources (e.g.
information packages - hard copy or on-line - to schools, libraries,
government, large organizations);
-
sale of access to CWHN data
bases; e.g. charging those who can pay for it for information
retrieved;
-
a revenue sharing arrangement
with our computer server such that CWHN retains a percentage of
the proceeds whenever CWHN members set up accounts, or purchase
other services (e.g. training, home page development) of that
server;
-
revenue generation through
sliding scale membership fees (individual and organizational);
-
funds and in-kind donations
from private sponsors to cover specific components of the networks
services or functions , e.g.
-
_ having a progressive communications
company sponsor the set-up and maintenance of the CWHN data base,
with acknowledgement of their contribution through use of their
logo upon access
-
_ working with computer and
software manufacturers to donate slightly used hardware and software
to small member organizations.
In addition, organizations
committed to women's health can be encouraged to support staffing
positions in the CWHN for short or long term periods. This may
be particularly practical in the case of the animators positions
(e.g. may work full time for a public health department with half
of that time spent on animation/community development work for
the CWHN).
Given the growing trend towards
on-line services and use of the Internet, other funding opportunities
in this field are likely to present themselves in the next four
years.
