Policies are guidelines developed by governments, funders, professional associations and other organizations. Policies are used to determine who gets funding, how money is spent, what kind of services and programs are supported, who makes decisions, etc.
Policy based research is research done to provide insight and answers about that issues should be considered when developing a policy, what makes an effective policy and how implimenting existing or potential policies may affect specific individuals or groups of people.
