Prairie Women s Health Centre of Excellence (PWHCE) staff are offering an interactive new workshop designed to help policy planners apply the most crucial Gender Based Analysis (GBA) tools which assist program planners in meeting the needs of their communities.

The 4 hour hands-on workshop helps build capacity for systematic, ongoing analysis in health planning, programming and policy, towards a more targeted and effective use of resources.  It will provide information and analytical perspectives that will complement on-going community programs, and allow you to practice applying GBA in practical case studies. You will learn the skills you need to make sound, effective decisions in health planning and programming to better meet your community's needs, especially those of vulnerable populations.

Topics include:

  • Introduction to Health Determinants, Health Indicators and GBA
  • Highlights of new findings on health promoting behaviours, including physical activity, healthy eating and tobacco cessation
  • GBA of health surveillance data and issues relevant to Manitobans
  • Group exercise, case studies and discussion
