Deadline for applications: March 28, 2013 for workshop Opportunities with the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS)

Ontario communities are becoming increasingly diverse, creating new challenges and opportunities for community health promoters and sport and physical activity providers. CAAWS is currently recruiting hosts for their newest workshop discussing the sport and physical activity experiences of girls and young women from diverse ethnic communities.

The Making Healthy Connections with Racialized Communities Workshop discusses the complexities of race, racialization and racism; explores findings from focus groups with racialized girls and young women, and service providers; and provides practical tips and ideas to enhance sport and physical activity programs and services. Workshops are available in English and French, and CAAWS has trained a number of facilitators across the province to lead the sessions.

Host organizations are responsible for the following workshop logistics: promotion, registration, facility booking, and catering arrangements – associated costs will be reimbursed up to $500. Additional costs associated with the delivery of the workshop (facilitator travel and honoraria, workshop resources) will be paid directly by CAAWS.

Workshop locations must be confirmed by March 28th, with workshop delivery by May 31st 2013.

Note: While all applications will be considered, CAAWS is particularly interested in scheduling French workshops, and workshops in the Northern region.
