Women and AIDS project
Evaluates the Women and AIDS Project at the Women's Health Clinic. The project provides training and community education sessions, as well as print materials, to women who are staff and volunteers of community groups employed at various health clinics and agencies, and, interested individuals working with women in the community. Evaluation focuses on the impact of the Project on other community organizations/agencies, at this early stage of implementation. Methodology: In-person interviews, Self-completing questionnaire, Telephone interviews. Conclusions and Future Directions: The project has not had a major impact on the community, but this is not to be expected given that it is only in its second year of implementation and organizations have had varying levels of contact and involvement with the Project. The majority of organizations reported receiving adequate information and support, and have been able to use the information and resources provided. As a result organizations have become more comfortable in dealing with women with AIDS and providing them with support; however, few have instituted organizational change. Participants feel there needs to be increased networking among organizations/agencies currently dealing with AIDS, as well as an increase in AIDS awareness with different cultural communities.
