Focuses on ethical issues faced by health care and service providers who work with injection drug users who have or are at risk for HIV. Examines four scenarios commonly encountered by health care workers who work with injection drug users to investigate potential difficulties and solutions. Concludes by making several recommendations including tolerating drug use on health sites, providing prisoners with sterile injection equipment, and providing injection equipment to minors. All recommendations and solutions are made assuming that users should be treated with respect, dignity, and as autonomous beings.
