Informs the general public of the results and implications of current research in the area of pain. // Favorise et encourage la recherche sur les mécanismes et sur les syndromes de la douleur, et contribuer à améliorer le traitement de patients souffrant de douleurs aiguës ou chroniques, par un rapprochement entre les chercheurs en sciences fondamentales et les professionnels de la santé de formations et de disciplines variées qui s’intéressent à la recherche et au traitement de la douleur. Soutient l’éducation et la formation dans le domaine de la douleur. Promeut et facilite la diffusion de nouvelles connaissances dans le domaine de la douleur. Encourage l’usage d’une classification, d’une nomenclature et de définitions uniformes dans le domaine de la douleur et des syndromes qui s’y rattachent. Informe le public des résultats et des retombées des recherches en cours dans le domaine de la douleur.
