Guides the integrating of a gender analytical framework in the programming of the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation (MCIC). Section One outlines some of the principles and assumptions under the gender analytical framework. It identifies important social dynamics that take place in the communities we work with, both locally and overseas. It also clearly identifies what the development process is all about. Section 2 details some practical tools that are helpful in taking a step from theory to application. This section covers, for instance, developing an organizational policy for GAD, formulating that policy, developing some guidelines for Program Officers on integrating a gender analysis in the project cycle, a programming planning checklist for planning gender-sensitive development education programmes, a development education materials checklist and finally, questions that help in promoting a gender-sensitive and anti-racism environment. Section 3 provides concrete examples on the application of GAD in two culturally different settings.
