The federal government has announced five Centres of Excellence for Women's Health. Under the program each centre will receive approximately $2.0 million over the next six years to conduct policy-based research on women's health.

The centres consist of provincial, regional and national partnerships, each with its own research focus aimed at making the health system more responsive to the health needs of women

Centre Profiles

Maritime Consortium

A partnership of individuals and organizations in Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick, the centre will be housed at Dalhousie University. For further information contact Miriam Stewart, (902) 494-2727.

Université de Montréal

A partnership of academics from the faculties of nursing, medicine, and arts and science, community-based women's organizations, and the public health system. For further information contact Francine Ducharme, (514) 343-7254.

National Network on Environments and Women's Health

A Canada-wide network of academics and non-governmental health organizations located at York University, Toronto. For further information contact Gina Feldberg, (416) 736-5941.

Prairie Region Centre of Excellence for Women's Health

A partnership of the universities of Manitoba, Winnipeg and Regina along with the Prairie Regional Health Promotion Centre in Regina, fédération provinciale des fransaskoises in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, and the Women's Health Clinic in Winnipeg. British Columbia Consortium for Women's Health
