Provides an overview of the Office of Natural Health Products, whose role is to provide assurances that all natural health products in Canada are safe, properly labelled and of high quality, while respecting freedom of choice and philosophical and cultural diversity. Also provides an overview of the Office's proposed regulatory framework and invites suggestions and feedback regarding the proposal. The components of the proposed regulatory framework include the definition of 'natural health product', labelling requirements, adverse event reporting, product licensing, facilities licensing, and good manufacturing practices. Input received from this workbook, in addition to other consultation methods, will be taken into consideration in the development of an appropriate policy for the regulation of natural health products in Canada.
