Designed to assist AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) in responding to AIDS in Southern Africa to make their programs more responsive to gender issues. Offers a conceptual basis and practical hints to facilitate effective integration of gender issues into policies and programs, and discusses the relevance of considering gender issues at different programming levels and stages: when conducting enviromental or needs analyses; when formulating policies; when designing and conducting program interventions; when raising funds; when implementing management systems, and when monitoring and evaluating programs.
