CARL—the Canadian Association of Research Libraries—is the leadership organization for the Canadian research library community. The Association’s members are the29 major academic research libraries across Canada together with Library and Archives Canada, the Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (CISTI) and the Library of Parliament. CARL strives to enhance the capacity of member libraries to partner in research and higher education, and to seek effective and sustainable scholarly communication and public policy encouraging of research and broad access to scholarly information.

The International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is a Canadian-based, public policy research institute that has a long history of conducting cutting-edge research into sustainable development.

A strong and active partner in community building, the CRC is also West Island's gateway to information on services and support systems available to individuals and families in its territory

Broadening the Mandate of CHERA/ACRES to CAHSPR/ACRSPS

Background: The health care landscape in Canada has undergone dramatic transformations in the past decade, with important implications for research and decision-making in health services, health economics, and health policy domains.

There has been a growing need for a national broad-based interdisciplinary health services and policy research association to support practitioners, users and students of health research to enhance their research capacity and professional development. In response to this, a new membership-based health services association is launched.

The new Association called the Health Research / Association canadienne pour la recherche sur les services et les politiques de la santé (CAHSPR/ACRSPS), will replace the Canadian Health Economics Research Association/ Association Canadienne pour la Recherche en Économie de la Santé (CHERA/ACRES). The aim will be to enhance research capacity within both the researcher and "research user" communities.

The Medical Letter, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that publishes critical appraisals of new prescription drugs and comparative reviews of previously approved drugs in its newsletters The Medical Letter on Drugs and Therapeutics and Treatment Guidelines from The Medical Letter.

For more than 20 years Womanspace has worked for women's political, social, and economic equality.  We inform, educate and advocate for women in Southern Alberta.

Our priorities include research, media awareness, education, information, community events, and advocacy.

The Law Foundation of British Columbia is a non-profit foundation created by legislation in 1969 to receive and distribute the interest on clients' funds held in lawyers' pooled trust accounts maintained in financial institutions.

The Legal Profession Act directs the Law Foundation to distribute these funds in five areas:

• legal education;
• legal research;
• legal aid;
• law reform; and
• law libraries.

The Foundation recognizes that while its objectives are legal in nature, the income is to be allocated to programs that will benefit the general public of British Columbia.

A grant application:

• must be submitted by a non-profit organization
• must fall within one or more of the five mandated areas
• must establish a clear benefit to the people of British Columbia
