Operates a shelter for women, with or without children, who are victims of family violence or confronted with any crisis. Offers weekly support groups for women, training and information regarding self-esteem, life skills, empowerment, custody, legal issues and family violence.
Works to prevent violence within the home, and in the community, to help those whose lives are devastated by violence because everyone has the right to live free of violence.

Offers one-on-one crisis intervention and a 24 hour crisis line. Provides a follow-up program for women and children setting up on their own.
Provides education, advocacy, and support services to assist battered women in British Columbia. Also offers feminist-oriented training to support group facilitators and peer counselors for women’s groups.

(See Details)The National Association of Women and the Law (NAWL) is an incorporated not-for-profit feminist organization that promotes the equality rights of Canadian women through legal education, research, and law reform advocacy.
Created at a conference held at the University of Windsor law school in 1974. Since then NAWL has used its unique research and educational strategies to raise public awareness about legal issues affecting women.
