One of four centers nationwide that studies the environmental causes of breast cancer by focusing on mammary gland development during puberty when the breast may be especially vulnerable to environmental influences. The Center is based at the University of California San Francisco under the leadership of Dr. Robert A. Hiatt, Director of Population Sciences, UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The Hope Haven Transition House Society is a feminist organization committed to addressing family violence with and on behalf of our community. Dedicated to the empowerment of women and children. They provide safe, secure, and confidential refuge to women and children. They advocate social changes towards a non-violent society. They provide and promote community awareness and education on violence against women and children and they provide ongoing support for women and their children to make independent decisions about their future. These services shall be provided regardless of religion, race, colour, ethnic background, language, martial status, disability, class, sexual orientation. They do not charge fees for services provided.
Formerly the Women's Edge Coalition, Women Thrive Worldwide is a non-profit organization that shapes U.S. policy to help women in developing countries lift themselves out of poverty. Founded in 1998, Women Thrive develops, shapes, and advocates for policies that foster economic opportunity for women living in poverty. They focus on making U.S. international assistance and trade programs prioritize women, and bring together a diverse coalition of over 50 organizations and 40,000 individuals united in the belief that empowering women is not only right, it’s also the key to ending global poverty.
Established in 1997 as a network comprising nongovernmental organizations, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), cooperating agencies, and the Bureau for Global Health of USAID. Promotes gender equity within population, health, and nutrition programs with the goal of improving reproductive health/HIV/AIDS outcomes and fostering sustainable development. Has 60 to 80 active members and maintains a listserv with more than 1,200 subscribers. A major focus of the group has been on gender education, advocacy, and the development of operational tools.
Organization of men working to end violence against women (VAW). Campaigns are led by both men and women, even though the focus is on educating men and boys. In some countries it is a general public education effort focused on ending violence against women.
Advises the Minister Responsible with respect to matters relating to the status of women, the development of public awareness regarding issues affecting women, and the promotion of change in attitudes within the community in order that women may enjoy an equality of opportunity.

A leadership tool to support improving the health of women and girls in Ontario and improving the quality and sustainability of Ontario’s health system. Provides practical action steps for improvement and establishes priority actions – some of which can be implemented immediately and at minimal cost.
Encourages women to take charge of their health care individually as well as collectively. Involved in developing alternative practices and works mainly in gynecological health. Offers an information health line, abortion services, and workshops on gynecological health.
