Documents in six First Nations women’s own words and “digital stories”, their understanding of how they had been impacted by the schools. Digital stories are 2-5 minutes long, using words, pictures and music. From the project: kiskino mâto tapanâsk: Intergenerational Effects on Professional First Nations Women Whose Mothers are Residential School Survivors.
Briefly relates the history of the residential school system. Introduces the Aboriginal Healing Foundation, explains its mission, lists some of the funded programs, and stresses the length of time it will take to restore community harmony.
Forms an organization whose mission is to encourage and support Aboriginal people in building and reinforcing sustainable health processes that address the legacy of physical and sexual abuse in the residential school system, including intergenerational impacts. Forme un organisme qui a pour mandat d'appuyer les peuples autochtones et de les encourager à concevoir, développer et renforcer des démarches de guérison durables qui s'attaquent aux effets des abus sexuels et physiques subis dans les pensionnats, y compris les répercussions intergénérationnelles.

Our clients are parents mom's and dad's who may have trouble with the law or have family issues. We help our clients as a whole. They usually have other issues such as: alcohol, drug, Residential Tenancy issues, Welfare, Disability, poverty, Residential School issues, some clients need referral to the Mental Health, probations, assist clients with paperwork, in addition, accompany clients to appointments with the Ministry as an advocate or a support person.
